Auburn, Massachusetts: Wrong Way Accident on Massachusetts Turnpike Kills One

July 25 2013 – Kathleen Borngesser, 66, of Toms River, New Jersey, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained in a three car accident early Sunday morning. Dwayne Blackman, 33, from Leominster, Massachusetts was allegedly operating a vehicle on the wrong side of the highway prior to striking Borngesser’s minivan and another car, which was occupied by Jessica Maher, 20, and Katlyn Abban, 19, both of Weymouth.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Auburn. According to Police, Blackman’s vehicle was traveling at approximately 80 miles per hour at the time of the collision.

Maher and Abban both sustained minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals. Blackman also suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he is still receiving treatment.

Police have charged Blackman with operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent vehicular homicide. He is awaiting arraignment in Worcester District Court.

The Accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
