February 8, 2011 – Christopher J. Ward, 19, of Woburn, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when his car veered off of an overpass and fell 30 to 40 feet onto Route 28. Lawrence J. Capriotti, 31, from Somerville, was driving a car that collided with Ward’s vehicle as it hit the road below the overpass. The accident occurred at around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday along Interstate 93 in Somerville.

Ward was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Capriotti fled the scene after the accident, but returned an hour later. According to the Massachusetts State Police, Capriotti was charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury and leaving the scene of the accident causing property damage.

Ward graduated from Woburn Memorial High School last year where he was a standout athlete. He planned on joining the Navy in the spring. It is unclear what caused Ward to lose control of his vehicle prior to veering off of the overpass and the accident remains under investigation.

January 24, 2011 – Nathaniel Holscher, 18, from Lowell, Massachusetts had died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident. According to the Massachusetts State Police, Holscher was driving southbound on Route 128 near exit 22 in Danvers when his car rolled over onto the highway. The accident occurred just after midnight on Sunday.

The State Police also stated that Holscher was ejected from the vehicle. He was flown from the scene to Beverly Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

At this time, police are unsure if speed was a factor in the crash or if Holscher was wearing a seatbelt. The accident remains under investigation.

January 14, 2011 – Joseph Briere, 19, from Woburn, Massachusetts has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained as a passenger in a SUV that rolled over on the highway. Kyle Ahearn, 19, also from Woburn, was driving the 1998 Isuzu Trooper southbound on Interstate 93 near exit 3. The other passengers in the vehicle were Shshank Samual, 20, Ethan Ahearn, 15, and Patrick Raistrick, 18, all from Woburn. The accident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, the vehicle went off the highway to the right and then struck a guard rail. The SUV then rolled over onto the driver’s side back onto the highway.

Briere was taken by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Ahearn and the other passengers were treated at the scene by Derry Fire Department personnel and later taken by ambulance to local hospitals.

The accident remains under investigation.

January 3, 2010 – Massachusetts State Trooper Steven Lorocco, of the Northampton Barracks, sustained serious personal injuries when Robert Murangi, 40, from Federal Way, Washington, collided with Lorocco’s cruiser. Two of Muragi’s passengers were also injured in the accident. Lorocco’s police cruiser was stopped on the side of the Massachusetts Turpike in Palmer after Lorocco had pulled over another vehicle. Muragi then collided with the rear end of the cruiser. The accident occurred on Sunday morning.

Lorocco and the driver of the car he pulled over were transported to Baystate Medical Center, where each was treated and released. The extent of the passengers’ injuries are unknown.

Munagi was cited for failing to take care when stopping and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.

December 23, 2010 – Joseph Wilson, 16, from North Grafton, Massachusetts and Christopher McLellan, 27, of Whitinsville, have both died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a single car accident. Wilson, a student at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus, which traveled off of the road and collided with a tree. McClellan was a passenger in the vehicle.

The accident occurred on Whitins Road in Sutton at around 1:15 a.m. on Saturday. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Sutton Police Department, both speed and alcohol were “major contributing factors in the crash.” Neither of the men were wearing a seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sutton Police Department and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.

December 14, 2010 – Bridget Morawski, 29, of Enfield, Connecticut and an unidentified 63 year old man from Springfield, Massachusetts have both died as a result of suffering serious personal injuries in a car accident on Route 91 in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. The accident occurred at around 5:13 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Morawski was apparently traveling north in the southbound lanes, but police have not determined why she was traveling in the wrong direction. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The southbound lanes of Route 91 were closed for about 4 hours.

The accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.

December 7, 2010 – Christina Anderson, 79, from Beverly, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained as a passenger in a head on crash. Cheryl Anderson-Young, 58, also from Beverly, was driving Anderson in a Lexus which crossed the center line on the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge and collided with an oncoming taxi. The accident occurred in Boston at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Anderson-Young was taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital. The cab driver, who has yet to be identified, was transported to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries. The bridge was closed for several hours.

The accident remains under investigation.

December 1, 2010 – A 14 year old girl from Andover, Massachusetts has sustained serious personal injuries when she was hit by a car while trying to board a school bus. Melanie Nesteruk, 17, also from Andover was driving the minivan that hit the teenage girl. The accident occurred at around 7:15 a.m. Monday morning near 200 Andover Street.

The teen, whose identity has not been released, was knocked down by the vehicle but remained conscious. She was initially transported to Lawrence General Hospital and then was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Boston. The 14 year old was first listed in serious condition, but has since been upgrade to fair condition.

According to the Andover Police Department, Nesteruk did not see the bus or the pedestrian prior to the accident. The police have cited Nesteruk for passing a school bus while its lights are flashing.

The accident remains under investigation.

November 17, 2010 – Norman Holler, 66, from Quincy, Massachusetts has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was struck by a car while trying to cross a street. The accident occurred along the Southern Artery in Quincy on Saturday. According to police, a car in the first lane stopped to let Holler cross, but he dropped his water bottle in the process. Holler then bent down to pick up the bottle and continued crossing the street. As he entered the second lane, the oncoming car did not see Holler and struck him with the vehicle.

Holler was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was treated for severe head trauma. Holler unfortunately passed away at around 6:45 p.m. on Monday.

At this point the driver has not been charged in the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the Quincy Police Department.

November 15, 2010 – Guilherme Sobral, 21, from Worcester, Massachusetts and Vinicius Martin Pereira, 21, of Framingham have died as a result of serious personal injuries suffered in a single car accident. Raphael Monteiro, 21, from Natick was injured in the crash. The accident occurred at around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday along the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Sobral was driving a Nissan Maxima in the westbound lanes of the Turnpike when he apparently lost control and rolled the car over. Pereira and Monteiro were both passengers in the vehicle.

Sobral was taken by medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where he was later pronounced dead. Pereira was pronounced dead at the scene. Monteiro, who was ejected from the sedan, was transported by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the accident.
