July 30, 2015: Hortense Medeiros, 78, from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, has succumbed to her injuries after she was struck by a car earlier this week. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Medeiros was walking on Russells Mill Road, near Dartmouth High School. When she was hit by a car, operated by April Pimental, 27, of New Bedford.

Woburn, Massachusetts: Two Dead after Motorcycle Collides with Vehicle on Route 9
July 7, 2015: Victoria Tucker, 22, from Woburn, Massachusetts, and Darius Theriault, 27, from Framingham, died when the motorcycle Theriault was operating, collided with the rear end of a car, which was driven by Libo Chen, 28, of Shrewsbury. The accident occurred at approximately 6:24 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Route 9 near Shrewsbury Commons.
Members of the Shrewsbury Fire Department responded to the accident scene, where Tucker was pronounced dead. Theriault was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where he later died. Chen was not injured in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation by the Shrewsbury Police Department, Westborough Police Department, and the District Attorney’s Office for Worcester County.
Boston, Massachusetts: Two dead and One Injured in North End Car Accident
June 25, 2015: Connor Darcey, 21, of Wellesley, Massachusetts, has died, and Harry James, 21, also of Wellesley, sustained serious personal injuries, when the car they were traveling in crashed in the North End Section of Boston. The driver of the vehicle also died. He has been identified as a 27 year old male, but his name has not yet been released. The accident happened at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015.
Somerville, Massachusetts: One Dead & One Injured in Construction Hoist Collapse
June 18, 2015: Ronald Morse, 40, a member of International Association of Ironworkers, Local 7 of Boston, has died, and Mark Praetsch, 30, a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 4 of Boston, was seriously injured as the result of a construction accident. The accident happened on June 11, 2015 at a Suffolk Construction jobsite in Somerville, where a Partners Healthcare facility is being constructed. According to a Suffolk Construction spokesman, the men were injured when a hoist cab unexpectedly fell away from the building during assembly of the hoists, and fell then three stories to the ground.
Members of the Somerville Police Department arrived on the scene and provided first aid to Morse and Praetsch. The men were then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where Morse was later pronounced dead. Praetsch was initially listed in critical condition, but has since stabilized.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) has opened an investigation to determine if Suffolk violated any workplace safety standards. No charges have been filed to date, and Ted Williams, U.S. Dept. of Labor Regional Director of Public Affairs, estimates that the inspection will not conclude for several weeks.
Boston, Massachusetts: Women Loses Arm in Boating Accident
June 2, 2015: Nicole Berthiaume, 19, of Auburn Massachusetts, sustained serious personal injuries in a boating accident near Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor. Berthiaume jumped into the water to retrieve a seat cushion, which had blown off of the boat. As she attempted to climb back aboard, her arm was severed by the propeller of the boat. The accident occurred in the late afternoon last Saturday.
Members of the U.S. Coast Guard responded to distress calls and arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. They were able to stop the bleeding, but were unable to save Berthiaume’s arm. She was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for further treatment. Subsequently search efforts to locate the arm were unsuccessful.
According to police, the captain of the boat was operating under the influence of alcohol, and when questioned by police, refused any field sobriety tests. He later allegedly consented to a breath test and was over the legal limit for both land and water.
Brighton, Massachusetts: Watertown Man Killed in 3 Car Crash on Massachusetts Turnpike
May 29, 2015: Arkloo Wong, 81, of Watertown, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was struck by a passing vehicle operated by Joseph Coury, 30, of Brighton. Wong was standing in the roadway of the Massachusetts Turnpike, exchanging paperwork with another driver, William Hamilton, 73, of Worcester, due to a minor collision, which had occurred moments earlier. The car accident took place near the Allston-Brighton tolls late on Friday night.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Wong and Hamilton had stopped their vehicles in the right active travel lane, and were standing behind Wong’s car. Coury’s car then approached the stopped vehicles, and struck Wong. According to police, Wong was pronounced dead at the scene. Coury was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for treatment, and Hamilton was not injured.
No charges have been filed to date, and the accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
Saugus, Massachusetts: Wilmington Man Killed in Rollover Accident
May 21 2015: John Thebeau, Jr., 62, of Wilmington, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained in a fatal rollover car accident, which occurred on Tuesday while he was driving south on Route 1 in Saugus. According to police, prior to the accident, a silver or grey SUV caused a commercial vehicle traveling in the right lane to swerve to its left, and hit Thebeau’s dump truck. Thebeau’s truck then collided with the guardrail, causing it to flip over several times.
Westfield, Massachusetts: Two Men Killed in Rollover on Massachusetts Turnpike
May 6, 2015: Brian White, 43, of Hamden, Connecticut, and Todd “Demse” Zullo, of Northampton, Massachusetts, died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when the van they were traveling in overturned on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Westfield on Sunday morning. White was driving the van and Zullo was a passenger.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, the vehicle was traveling in the eastbound lane of the Massachusetts Turnpike, when White lost control of the van, causing it to turn over and collide with the median.
White was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency medical crews transported Zullo to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, but succumbed to his injuries and died on Tuesday afternoon. Both White and Zullo were members of a Northampton based reggae band, called The Alchemystics.
Franklin, Massachusetts: Whitinsville Woman Killed in Accident on Interstate 495
April 28, 2015: April 26, Ashley Hartung, 31, of Whitinsville, Massachusetts, died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when the car she was traveling in, struck the guardrail in the southbound lane of Interstate 495, near exit 17. Hartung’s sister, Crystal Legassey, 30, of Oxford, was driving the car, and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Continue reading

April 16, 2015: Last night, Timothy Melcher II, 24, of Cotuit, Massachusetts, died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when the van he was traveling in overturned on Route 25 in Wareham.
