January 22, 2014: Isis Elston, 16, of Marblehead, Massachusetts sustained serious personal injuries when she was hit by a pickup truck operated by Jeffrey Whitmore, 53, also of Marblehead. Elston was attempting to cross Sewall Street at the intersection of Elm Street in Marblehead at approximately 5:00 p.m., when the accident took place.
Elston was conscious when emergency personnel arrived at the scene. She then was rushed to Salem Hospital in serious condition, and was later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries.
According to the Marblehead Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police, Whitmore remained at the scene after the accident and has cooperated with police during their investigation. Police have conducted an accident reconstruction, but have not yet filed any criminal charges against Whitmore.
