August 11, 2011 – Bridget Culhane, 10, from Littleton, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when she was run over in her driveway. Barbara Culhane, Bridget’s mother, was pulling into the driveway when she accidentally ran the vehicle over her daughter. The accident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the family’s home in Littleton.

Bridget was taken by a medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Boston, where she was pronounced dead. According to the Littleton Police Department, Bridget was laying down in the driveway playing with a pet bird.

The police investigation revealed that the mother’s view was blocked by parked cars and the shape of the driveway. Police also state that there was no evidence of impairment on the mother’s part. Bridget is mourned by her family after this tragic accident.

August 8, 2011 – Jean Charles, a 34 year old Boston, Massachusetts resident, died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a single car accident on Route 95 South in Attleboro. The accident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. Monday morning between the Newport Avenue exit and the South Avenue exit.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Charles’ vehicle was on its side with the driver’s door pinned to the pavement when they arrived on the scene. Charles was apparently trapped in the vehicle for about an hour before firefighters removed him with lifesaving tools.

Charles was then transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

Among those responding to the scene were the State Police, the Attleboro Fire Department and the North Attleboro Fire Department.

The accident remains under investigation.

July 7, 2011 – Jack Pearsall, 16, from Falmouth, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was struck by an automobile. Monica Mitchell, 42, from Mashpee, was operating a Ford Explorer when the SUV struck Pearsall near the intersection of Old Barnstable Road and Leather Leaf Lane. The accident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

Mitchell had allegedly been drinking wine at a friend’s house prior to the accident. Mitchell also allegedly continued driving and was stopped in a line of traffic when police caught up with her. Mitchell was arraigned on Tuesday in Falmouth District Court. She was charged with motor vehicle homicide while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of personal injury resulting in death, two counts of driving to endanger, and a marked lanes violation. Mitchell was released on her own recognizance.

According to court records, Pearsall was walking along the road with three friends after attending a fireworks display in Mashpee. Pearsall was a soccer standout and would have been a junior at Falmouth High School in the fall.

The accident remains under investigation.

May 3, 2011 – Joseph Sforza, 58, from Weymouth, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a two car head-on collision. Marco Herrera, 39, also from Weymouth was driving the other vehicle. According to Abington Police, Sforza lost control of his car and collided head-on with Herrera’s SUV along Route 18 in Abington. The accident occurred at around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Firefighters required the Jaws of Life to remove Sforza from the vehicle. A medical helicopter was scheduled to transport Sforza to a Boston hospital, but was cancelled when he went into cardiac arrest. He was then transported to South Shore Hospital, where he later died. Herrera and his two passengers were also taken by ambulance to South Shore Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Witnesses claim that they saw Sforza driving erratically prior to the accident and may have clipped another vehicle’s side view mirror. Also, another vehicle swerved to avoid the accident and struck a curb, which caused a flat tire. The driver was not injured.

The Massachusetts State Police and the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted at the scene. No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation.

April 16, 2011 – Donald B. Schwendenman, 70, of Milford, Massachusetts has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a single car roll-over accident. The accident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday near exit 23C on Route 495 North in Marlborough.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Schwendenman lost control of his pickup truck and entered the grassy median. He was able to reenter the roadway, but then drove back onto the median causing the truck to roll down an embankment. Schwendenman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marlborough Fire Department assisted the rescue efforts. The crash remains under investigation by the State Police Department.

March 18, 2011 – Ann Kireilis, 91, from Brockton, Massachusetts has sustained serious personal injuries in an accident where a train smashed into her car. Kireilis’ vehicle was on the tracks in Avon when a Boston bound commuter train collided with car. The accident occurred yesterday at around 11:45 a.m at the East High Street crossing.

Kireilis was transported to Brockton Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition as of yesterday afternoon. An Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority spokesperson said it was unclear why Kireilis’s car was stopped on the tracks and that the warning gates were in the down position.

The accident remains under investigation.

March 7, 2011 – Michael Kaminski, 60, from Oxford, Massachusetts, and Adam Richard, 34, of Hudson, have died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a four vehicle accident in Marlborough. Richard Delisle, 62, from Palmer, was driving one of the other vehicles but was not injured in the crash. Robert Murner, the fourth driver and his passenger Christine Murner, both 48 and from Wilbraham, were also not injured in the accident.

The crash occurred on Route 85 in Marlborough on Friday morning. According to the Massachusetts State Police, Richard lost control of his car causing him to cross the center line into oncoming traffic. Richard’s vehicle clipped the rear end of Delisle’s box truck and then collided head on with Kaminski’s Ford Taurus. Mr. Murner was unable to stop and smashed into the back of the Taurus.

Richard was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Kaminski was transported to Marlborough Hospital, where he later died. Police stated that Richard was not wearing a seat belt, but are unsure at this time if Kaminski was wearing a seat belt.

The accident remains under investigation.
