October 7, 2013 – Maria Eugenia Fajardo, 37, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained after a tractor trailer collided with her pickup truck. The operator of the tractor trailer, Jose Saldana, 30, and his passenger, Marcos Contreas, 37, both also from Pittsfield, were injured in the crash. Fajardo was stopped in the right travel lane of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Russell, when the truck hit her vehicle at approximately 8:05 p.m. last Monday.

Fajardo was pronounced dead at the scene. Saldana and Contreas were transported to Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, where they were treated for their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.

September 25, 2013 – Susan Macchi, 64, and Juliet Macchi, 23, both of Carver, Massachusetts, have died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained in a head on collision. The accident occurred at approximately 12:29 a.m. Sunday morning on Federal Furnace Road in Plymouth.

Susan Macchi was driving with her daughter Juliet, when their vehicle collided with another car driven by a 25 year old Kingston man, whom the Plymouth Police Department have yet to identify. The man was found lying on the side of the road when police arrived on scene, but only sustained hip and pelvic injuries. Susan Macchi was pronounced dead at the scene. Juliet Macchi was transported to Jordan Hospital by ambulance, where she later died.

No charges have been filed, although police have stated that alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.

September 17, 2013 – Patricia Devore, 72, of Auburndale, Massachusetts, and Nicole Geddry, 36, of Norwood, have died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when their cars collided head on. The accident took place on Interstate 95 near exit 5 in North Attleborough at about 8 p.m. on Saturday.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Geddry’s car was traveling northbound when she crossed the center median and traveled into the oncoming lanes. She then collided with Devore’s car, which was headed in the opposite direction. Devore was pronounced dead at the scene. Geddry was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

State Police have not yet determined the cause of the accident, which remains under investigation.

September 11, 2012 – Stephen Loguidice, 51, of Bedford, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when his car collided head on with another vehicle, which was driven by an unidentified 47 year old woman from Marshfield. The accident occurred on Route 123 in Norwell at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

First responders from the Norwell Police Department extricated Loguidice from his vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with non-life threatening injuries.

Route 123 was closed for several hours after the accident. The crash remains under investigation by the Norwell Police Department.

September 5, 2013 – George Power, 71, of Easton, Massachusetts, has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when Colin O’Hearne, 17, also of Easton, lost control of his SUV and collided with Power. The accident occurred on Summer Street in Easton on Monday at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Power was walking his dog east on Summer Street prior to the accident. He was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s office has stated that O’Herne has been charged with negligently operating a vehicle resulting in death, speeding, and marked lane violations. The accident remains under investigation.

August 26, 2013 – Marjorie Carter, 88, of Carver, Massachusetts has died as a result of serious personal injuries sustained when her car was involved in an accident with a truck driven by Carl Jewells, 46, of North Attleborough. The crash occurred at about 4 pm Sunday on Route 58 in Carver.

Stephanie Waite, 19, was riding as a passenger in Jewells truck. All three were injured and taken to Jordan Hospital. Carter died while on the way to the hospital.

The Carver Police Department stated that no charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation.

August 19, 2013 — Miles Tibbetts, 16, of Wellfleet, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle driven by Dorothy Herold, 76, also of Wellfleet. At the time of the accident, Tibbetts was attempting to cross over Route 6 in Wellfleet. The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Tibbetts was unresponsive at the scene. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital in Barnstable and was later flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where he was pronounced dead later that day.

Tibbetts was going to be a junior at Nauset Regional High School where he was a member of the wrestling team. His friends and family mourn his loss.

The accident remains under investigation by the Wellfleet Police Department and they have not said whether criminal charges will be filed against Herold.

August 16, 2013 – Michael Zwicker, 45, of Norton, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with an oncoming car. Mark Nadeau, 22, from Taunton, was operating the car westbound on Route 140 in Taunton prior to crashing into the motorcycle. The accident occurred last Sunday night at approximately 7:55 p.m.

Zwicker’s body was found seventy-five feet from the crash site and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Nadeau’s vehicle sustained heavy damage, and he was transported to Morton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The Taunton Police Department has stated that the investigation of the accident is ongoing, but the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has specified that no evidence of alcohol or drug use was found at the time of the accident. Distracted driving and speed are being considered as factors that caused the accident, which will be determined through accident reconstruction.

August 13, 2013 – Joseph Barboza, of Wareham, Massachusetts, was operating a truck southbound on Route 9 in Eastham when he collided with a vehicle operated by Samantha Young, of Eastham, Massachusetts. Both cars continued into the oncoming lane crashing into a station wagon driven by Barbara Wright, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a minivan driven by Gary Saxton, of Coneus, New York. The accident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6th.

According to the Eastham Police Department, nine individuals sustained serious personal injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. At least one person suffered life threatening injuries. Police have not indicated who was most seriously injured and have not yet released the names of the remaining five people who were injured.

The accident remains under investigation.

July 25 2013 – Kathleen Borngesser, 66, of Toms River, New Jersey, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained in a three car accident early Sunday morning. Dwayne Blackman, 33, from Leominster, Massachusetts was allegedly operating a vehicle on the wrong side of the highway prior to striking Borngesser’s minivan and another car, which was occupied by Jessica Maher, 20, and Katlyn Abban, 19, both of Weymouth.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Auburn. According to Police, Blackman’s vehicle was traveling at approximately 80 miles per hour at the time of the collision.

Maher and Abban both sustained minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals. Blackman also suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he is still receiving treatment.

Police have charged Blackman with operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent vehicular homicide. He is awaiting arraignment in Worcester District Court.

The Accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
