July 22, 2013 – Martin Stoesser, 50, of Chicago, Illinois, and his ten year old daughter sustained life threatening personal injuries when Stroesser’s van was struck head on by a pickup truck driven by Jason Frazier, 27, of Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The accident occurred last Tuesday in Eastham, Massachusetts at the intersection of Herring Brook Road and McKoy Road.

Stoesser and his daughter were air lifted to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was listed in good condition as of Thursday. The hospital did not release an update on the daughter’s status. Three of Stoesser’s other passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital.

According to the Eastham Police Department, officers found several pills of the prescription drug Xanax in Frazier’s truck and on his person after the accident. He was arraigned on Thursday in Orleans District Court and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was subsequently charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, and a tire tread depth infraction.

The accident remains under investigation.

June 25, 2013 – Steven Khabbaz, 27, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle. The accident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Saturday near exit 26 on Route 3 North in Billerica.

According to the Billerica Police Department, Khabbaz was involved in a single car accident along Route 3 and then exited his vehicle and began walking down the roadway. At some later point, he was struck by a passing vehicle just north of exit 26. Massachusetts State Police reports have indicated that Khabbaz died at the scene.

Several other accidents were caused as a result of the body in the roadway. The accident remains under investigation by the State Police.

June 5, 2013 – John Kutch, 52, of Southborough, Massachusetts, sustained serious personal injuries when his bicycle was struck by a car at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. An unidentified 25 year old Southborough man was operating the vehicle westbound on Main Street and was attempting to turn left onto Middle Road, when he struck Kutch’s bicycle, which was traveling eastbound on Main Street.

As a result of the collision, Kutch was thrown onto the windshield and then fell to the ground. According to police, Kutch was wearing a helmet and was conscious at the scene of the crash. He was transported by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he has remained since the accident.

No charges have been filed against the driver as of this date. The accident remains under investigation by the Southborough Police Department and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.

May 22, 2013 – Steven Feeney, 18, of Townsend, Massachusetts, and Adam Witkins, 30, of North Attleboro, sustained serious personal injuries in a two car crash. Both men were operating separate vehicles on Townsend Street in Pepperell and collided head on. The accident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Sunday.

Feeney and Witkins were both transported to Boston area hospitals by medical helicopters. Both men are listed in serious, but stable condition.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the victims were the only occupants of their respective vehicles at the time of the accident. Police do not believe that any other vehicles were involved, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Feeney, a student at North Middlesex Regional High School, had allegedly attended the school’s prom that evening. However, police do not believe that any prom-related activities contributed to the cause of the accident.

May 13, 2013 – Evan Bard, 20, of Agawam, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained in a single car accident, which occurred in Canton at approximately midnight on Saturday. She was a passenger in a car operated by Sean Jackman, 24, of Stoughton.

According to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, Jackman was operating the vehicle westbound on Bolivar Street when the vehicle collided with a wall and then a tree.

Bard was pronounced dead at the scene. She was attending Curry College as a nursing major, and was a member of the cheerleading team.

Jackman sustained injuries to his head, and was transported to Boston Medical Center.
He was arraigned in his hospital room on Monday and was charged with motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence, and other violations. Jackman pleaded not guilty.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Canton Police Department.

May 2, 2013 – Gregory Poole, 55, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, sustained serious personal injuries when he was struck by an SUV. The accident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 1:00p.m. while Poole was standing outside of the home he rents. The driver, his sister, Cynthia Gerrior, 53, of Whitman, had been parked in Poole’s driveway when she placed the vehicle in reverse, and caused it to strike Poole, and continue into the house through the front door.

According to the East Bridgewater Fire Department, Poole was airlifted by MedFlight helicopter to Tufts Medical Center in Boston with multiple internal injuries. He was listed in good condition on Thursday. Gerrior was taken from the scene in an ambulance, but was uninjured.

The house sustained extensive property damage, including a 10’x10′ hole where the front door used to be. There are broken windows, hanging insulation, and lose wires and plugs.

The East Bridgewater Police Department responded to the scene, and do not believe Gerrior will be charged with criminal negligence.

April 29, 2013 – Barry Russell, 59, of Wareham, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle. Charles Rohrback IV, 19, also of Wareham, was operating his sedan on Cranberry Highway in Wareham when the car struck Russell as he attempted to cross the street. The accident occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. last Friday.

Russell was pronounced dead at the scene. Rohrback was uninjured and remained at the scene after the accident.

According to the Wareham Police Department, no criminal charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation by the Wareham Police and the Massachusetts State Police.

April 24, 2013 – Rhiannon Gately, 31, of Rosindale, Massachusetts, James Gately, 33, of Walpole, and their eight-year-old daughter sustained serious personal injuries in a single car accident on Route 140 in Wrentham on Sunday afternoon.

According to Wrentham Police, Rhiannon Gately was operating her vehicle when James Gately took control of the steering wheel, causing the automobile to cross the center line and strike a tree along the side of the road.

The Wrentham Fire Department had to extract Rhiannon Gately from the vehicle using life saving tools. She was transported by a medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital, along with her child.

James Gately was initially taken to Norwood Hospital, and was then transferred to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was placed in protective custody at the hospital and charged with multiple offenses, including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and child endangerment. He was arraigned in Wrentham District Court and his bail was set at $5,000.

The Wrentham Police were assisted at the scene by the Norfolk Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police.

April 18, 2013 – Alfred Cabiya, 56, of Bristol, Connecticut, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained in a construction site accident at a Massachusetts Department of Transportation (“DOT”) facility in Northampton, Massachusetts. The accident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Thursday.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Cabiya and two other workers were assembling two modular trailers, each measuring approximately fifty (50) feet by ten (10) feet. One of the trailers shifted during this process and pinned the workers between the two units. The trailers were being used as temporary office space by the DOT while its main building was under construction.

One of the other workers was transported by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The third man was injured, but did not require hospitalization. The men were working for Trico Welding of Beacon Falls, Connecticut.

The accident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police, the Northampton Police Department, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents.

April 11, 2013 – Nicholas Casey, 53, of Marblehead, Massachusetts, and his passenger, Kimberly O’Connor, 41, of Geneva, Illinois, sustained serious personal injuries in a car accident on Route 90 in Hopkinton on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Casey was operating his vehicle westbound on Route 90 at the time of the accident. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time, but several witnesses reported that the vehicle rolled over multiple times. Casey and O’Connor were both transported to UMass Medical Center for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation by the State police.
