December 23, 2015: Joe Brady, 71, of Taunton, Massachusetts, has died as the result of serious personal injuries sustained when he was struck by a motor vehicle driven by Michael Burns, 33, also of Taunton. The accident occurred at approximately 8:30 pm on Saturday, when Brady was crossing Route 27 in Stoughton, returning to a Christmas tree lot he owns.
Brady was transported by medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center, where he later passed away. The driver was not injured, and remained on the scene, where he was questioned by Massachusetts State Police Officers. Police also performed a field sobriety test and determined that Burns was impaired. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs.
The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are continuing to investigate the accident with the help from the Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit of the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
